Meet Phil and Naomi

Phil Harvey

DIRECTOR and SENIOR ADVISER

My journey to become an independent financial adviser started in 2012 when my wife Fiona and I went to three financial advisers. We were earning a good income, had an investment property and were putting money into super. We wanted help to ensure we had the right strategy to set ourselves up for having a family and then for retirement.

The first adviser wanted us to sell our investment property and put our savings into their managed funds. The second wanted us to buy another property and it just happened that they were selling one that in their words would be “ideal for us”. The last wanted us to move our super into their in-house fund. We quickly realised that it was all about them selling products.

Having moved from wool exporting and buying, to the public service, I was ready for my next career change. I decided that I would start up a business that focused on providing strategic financial advice. In 2012 I went back to study and completed my Masters in Financial Planning. Finally, in 2018 we launched Construct Wealth as a 100% independent and conflict free financial advice business. In 2019 I became one of only 50 founding members of the Profession of Independent Financial Advisers.

My focus is helping people like Fiona and I once were. Busy professionals and executives earning a good income but wanting to make sure we were making the most of it and maximising our long-term wealth for our family and a comfortable retirement.

Away from work, I enjoy the simple things in life such as good food, gardening, travel and helping my two wonderful children with their sporting activities – I have been seen dancing badly too! 

Naomi Horobin

DIRECTOR and SENIOR ADVISER

While working in banking in rural New South Wales, I discovered Financial Planning. The thing that attracted me to financial planning was the satisfaction I got from helping people make smarter decisions with their money.

Over the last 20 years, I have worked for two of the major banks and a boutique financial adviser. In 2016, after becoming disillusioned with the conflicts of interest that were inherent within the financial planning industry, I started Clover Financial Group, my own independent financial advice business. In 2023, I joined forces with Phil to bring our resources together so we could help more people.

I have completed a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning and gained the Certified Financial Planner® designation.  I am a member of the Profession of Independent Financial Advisers and the Financial Adviser Association of Australia (FAAA).

My focus is to provide quality personal and easy-to-understand advice. My areas of expertise include helping clients with cashflow and debt management, wealth creation, superannuation advice, retirement planning, Centrelink/DVA, estate planning, and insurance.

Outside of work, I enjoy living on a few acres with my pets, cooking, eating out and motor sports. I love travelling and along with my husband Fro, we are slowly working our way through the long list of places we want to see pinned to our fridge door.
